DevOps engineer at startup within a larger team (so you can move fast) - NYC

Our client used to be a startup but was acquired and absorbed into a leading real estate company - which means you still get the culture without the financial risk! Their software platform has made a huge impact on the industry and they're growing - which means they need to ensure uptime, stability, and reliability. 

This means bringing on some more talent to the DevOps team.

Some of the typical DevOps-y stuff you'll do:

● Manage the live systems’ performance, availability, reliability, and security for all environments
● Partner with the SWE team to create new automated tools, procedures and practices
● Design and implement the CI/CD pipeline to automate deployment scripts, data migrations, etc
● Be a technical contact for internal groups across the company and external hosting providers
● Put in place configuration management tools to manage IAC
● Set up the monitoring practices, automate monitoring and alerts
● Analyze, report, and project system and application performance and capacity
● Improve and maintain the infrastructure, troubleshooting issues and designing for DR
● Design and build new infrastructure stacks as new products come up

The kinds of things you have in your background:

● Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a related field such or equivalent work experience
● You can explain techie stuff to non-techie people
● The WHY something works is as important as the HOW
● Self-motivated and curious, crafty and driven
● 5+ years of UNIX/Linux systems operation (Deep experience with Linux system administration)
● 1+ years of experience in Operations, Infrastructure or pure DevOps practice
● 1+ years of cloud infrastructure (preferably using AWS)
● Experienced in gathering and processing system vitals, alerting/monitoring, logs and using them to diagnose problems
● Hands on experience with build tools and the Git version control system
● Strong scripting skills (Python, Javascript, Perl, Bash, etc)
● Empirical knowledge of the configuration management ecosystem
